Our proprietary technology, Hemoplug™, is a platform that consists of a smart valve system based on fluid management release. By connecting different channels within a single device, Ubiplug’s exceptional smart valve system allows the nurse conducting the dialysis session to switch steps without opening the catheter. This all-important advantage significantly reduces the number of hand maneuvers carried out in zones vulnerable to contamination, enabling best-in-class hemodialysis management.
As hemodialysis sessions occur three times a week with an average session lasting up to 4 hours, caring for ESRD patients requires specially trained and highly-skilled nurses. The numerous and complex dialysis steps place a high demand n nursing time, which can lead to a strain on facility resources.
Ubiplug’s Smart Valve System saves on nursing time and duties. All the key steps for conducting dialysis are incorporated within a single connection device, releasing nurses from the burden of manipulating the catheter to connect and disconnect the various syringes and caps.
Ubiplug succeeded in building its platform technology that transforms how health practitioners care for ESRD patients in collaboration with the university hospital CHU Caen, AP-HP (Europe’s largest public hospital system located in Paris), and Air Liquide Healthcare, among other industrial and hospital partners. Ubiplug’s first target market is hemodialysis, one of the greatest caregiving challenges. 10% of the world’s adult population is affected with chronic kidney disease.
